Why the front desk should text back
· 1 min read · updated
Patients answer a text far more often than they answer a voicemail — and the front desk gets its phone line back.
Most practices still run on voicemail. A patient calls, nobody is free, the call goes to a machine, and someone spends the afternoon calling back.
Texting inverts that. A missed call becomes a message, the message lands in one inbox the whole front desk can see, and whoever is free replies. Nothing waits for one person to be at one phone.
The catch is compliance. Carriers require 10DLC registration before a business may text customers, and every message has to honour opt-outs. Those rules are not optional, and they are the part most teams discover after their messages start getting filtered.
